A Long Time Ago, in a Dorm Room Far, Far Away…

Picasa has allowed me to “re-discover” a lot of old photos I had squirreled away on my hard drive from long, long before I started organizing them in any sensible manner.

Take this one, for example (if it gets cropped by my blog’s narrow width, I’m sorry – click on the image for the full-size edition):

Keith in his dorm room

This is me, circa 1999 or somewhere around there. A few notes:

  • Yes, that is a paper calendar on the wall. I’ve since learned the error of my ways.
  • My computer at the time was an IBM Aptiva. Forgive me!
  • You can see a bunch of photos of Amanda, always close by so I could see her.
  • That big chart on the wall is an early Java class hierarchy chart. Every programming geek needs one!
  • The walls in dorm rooms were very bland, so I decorated them as best I could. For example, with pictures of Sailor Mercury. (My office at work carries on this tradition today, as Amanda won’t let me do this to our bedroom anymore… can’t imagine why…)
  • The Lord of the Rings trilogy (paperback edition) is always close by.
  • My god, look at the size of that cordless phone! Ah, ancient technology!

Not the most exciting picture, but ah boy, does it bring back memories!

Why yes, I am a geek. Why do you ask?

Okay, maybe this is taking it too far. 😉

  1. What? No Flux Capacitor?

Btw. You’re geekdom in no way surpasses mine. Why? Because I have weapon systems all over my 91 Chevy Cavalier, and not just in the headlights. ;p

  2. The Flux Capacitor is untested technology, and besides, it tends to disrupt the time stream, which leaves a really nasty smell. And then there’s the whole “disrupting reality” thing.

Oh, and the Keithmobile-D has since been upgraded to include missile launchers on the roof, but I can’t be bothered updating my pictures. Gotta keep some features secret, right? 😉
