Bigger Bunnies

I forgot to write about it earlier, but two weeks ago we took the bunnies to the vet for their yearly checkup. Needless to say it was… interesting trying to get those two little rascals into their carrier to go on the half-hour ride to the vet, but we managed somehow. Once we got to the vet though, we discovered something interesting – our bunnies are getting BIG!

Gus, who had weighed 5 pounds on his last visit was now up to 7 pounds – and Betsy, formerly 4 1/2 pounds, was now 6 1/2 pounds. That’s 2 pounds of weight gain for both bunnies in a year – which is perfectly healthy, but you’d never know it by looking at them. My little bunnies are growing up so fast!

The funny thing is, at 7 pounds, I think Gus is now officially heavier than my mom’s cat, so he’d better look out the next time the bunnies come to visit!

  1. Wow. A 7 pound bunny. What a handful. Have I told you about my dog? She’s an anatolian shepherd (like a german sheperd, only from Anatolia, that’s in turkey…)She tips the scales at about 100 pounds. Funny thing though, to get her in a carrier, I simply have to say “load.” She’ll jump right in the car or carrier and we’re off! (unless you then want to carry the carrier…maybe “carrier” is the wrong term…)

  2. Yikes! That’s a big dog! And I thought carrying two 7 pound bunnies around (in a rather heavy medium-sized dog carrier) was a lot!
