Accent

I have a fascination with accents, especially accents in people who speak English. I figure this is because my family moved to New England when I was around 7 or 8 (I don’t remember exactly), and I was old enough to detect the difference in the way that people spoke. I’ve often joked to people that I speak “true” English, without an “accent” – unlike the New Englanders around me who most certainly do have an accent (to a greater or lesser degree).

Don’t ask me how, but I recently came across an article on “General American” in Wikipedia, which I believe describes my “accent” (or lack thereof) quite accurately. Finally, some evidence for the way I speak!

The fact that I find this interesting, and actually get excited about it, just proves that I am such a geek.
