It’s a hard life, being a bunny – especially being one of OUR bunnies. A couple of weeks ago (before it got really hot out) we took the bunnies down to my mom’s house and let them sit in the yard (in the shade and closely supervised, of course). We also brought my mom’s guinea pig, George, outside for some fresh air.
I must warn you – there are a LOT of pictures.
Here’s Betsy and half of Gus. My, my, but that’s some green grass!
Betsy and Gus, chillin’. Betsy, why do you look so nervous?
Betsy, just relax – like Gus!
Now that’s one relaxed bunny. Gus loves his outside time. Of course, since this was during the middle of the day (which is normally the bunnies “sleepy time,” they weren’t too active. But that’s OK.
What a cute bunny!
There’s my two bunnies.
Gus knows how to relax – or is he sniffing Betsy’s bum? Silly bunny!
Betsy hung out by the water the whole time, but she never really drank any. She just liked being near it, I think.
That’s a bit better, Betsy. Just relax…
There we go! That’s more like it – just chill out and enjoy the fresh air and soft grass.
Two bunnies – the picture of relaxation.
She’s thinking about taking a drink…
Still thinking. I think she was just posing for the camera!
OMG run – it’s a huge monster bunny! Oh, wait, it’s just Betsy.
Now THAT is a content bunny.
After all that “hard work,” the bunnies relax in my mom’s livingroom. They spent a bit of time before this in front of the box fan my mom had on the floor. Betsy seemed to enjoy being in front of the fan, and Gus – well, he just likes new places to explore (and new things to chew on – just watch out for the wires, guys!).
There’s the bunnies and the piggie in the yard. We brought the bunny cage down with us, but George actually has a bigger cage – because he actually lives in his cage (unlike the bunnies, who only have a cage as a place to keep their litter boxes). So we swapped cages while they were outside. George didn’t seem to mind.
There’s George. Yep. That’s him.
Being a caged pig, George isn’t quite as active as the bunnies (although my mom will argue to the contrary, saying that he does little turbo-piggie laps in his cage, throwing up shavings, when he’s in the mood for it).
George doesn’t move much.
What a cute face!
“Be sure to get my best side!”
“What’re you looking at, punk?”
So, there you have it – a whole crapload of pictures from the Bunny’s most recent adventure. Such cute bunnies!!!
UPDATE: You can follow the adventures of Gus and Betsy now on their own blog, The Life and Times of Bunnies!
Nice bunnies…cute piggy too.
Bunnies love being outside in the grass but prefer shade to sun. You need to drape a sheet over one half of their cage so they have a shady area to hide in. Don’t forget bunnies are prey animals and get scared if they feel exposed and can’t hide. Cute bun-buns though. I love bunnies :0)
They were in the shade, and we never leave them alone when they are outside. (Going outside for them is a very rare occurrence anyway; they prefer to stay inside.)
